Then I would get a buddy or friend to turn the car on momentarily while you pay attention to the hose because once the car turns on transmission fluid will drain from this line. Once you find that line undo the hose clamp, aim the hose into a drain pan or bucket. I found mines on a club Lexus forum tutorial after a Google search. That means the hose that takes fluid that passes through the radiator back to the transmission. Find the outgoing transmission fluid line from your radiator.Replace what you drained out by measuring in those quart bottles. Drain the fluid in the pan, measure the fluid out could be anywhere from 3-4 quarts.It is about a 80-90% fluid replacement without flushes. It requires some basic tools, couple YouTube videos and Google searches. Not any aftermarket fluidĭepending on the age of your car if you have a drain plug underneath the car and a fill plug under the hood you can do a a full fluid exchange yourself. I would recommend only using the factory fluid which is WS for that trans. Not all of them had issues but it was enough to have a bulletin on it. I have seen magical things happen with that fluid.Īlso last side note, that generation camry had a torque converter concern from 12 to 14. But I do a full flush, not a drain and fill and I only use factory fluid. I don't want to tell you what's better as I don't want to be liable, but i will tell you I just did my wife's venza at 122k. The fluid gets sheared in the converter to make torque. Driving a car harder does degrade the fluid faster as anything else does just because of its working harder. Normally our advisors recommend atf exchanges between 80 and 100k. Some transmissions are more sensitive to a change. With newer cars it's less likely (world standard fluid). In the old days, it used to be like that where if you changed the fluid at higher mileage that could be a concern. ![]()
